comeatmibro: (smile ★ i can learn to stand alone)
[ Miyuki's standing on a beach in Olivine when she fumbles the 'Gear to life. A Slowking is floating on the water in the background, and will drift gradually further out onto the ocean as the feed goes on. ]

So after spending all weekend with Totoro in Goldenrod, I wound up where I was headed, anyway. That's the weird part. [ Not the rest of it — she's been here too long. ]

I got to pick up my stuff from the Otherhouse... Otherdad's really gone, huh? [ She smiles a little ruefully. ] I bet there's kids who need him back home where he came from, though. It's okay. [ She's certainly taking this a lot better than the last few disappearances. ]

Anyway, I'm in Olivine now, Braids-sis. [ She never got your name.... ] I'm on the east side of town, on the rocky part of the beach. [ The camera whirls to reveal an intimidating rock face, currently being scaled by a cheerful Tyranitar. ] There's woods up there; I'm not gonna go trekking through them, though. I've got surfers, so I'll take the water around to the docks. You should meet me there!

[ She turns around, the camera turning with her, and in the distance, bobbing on the water, is a fat pink shape. Miyuki makes an exasperated noise. ]

Gotta go get my stupid Slowking first.

[ And with that muttered remark, the feed goes out. ]
comeatmibro: (spectate ★ confidence in insecurity)
[ The feed opens on a tabletop in a restaurant, where Miyuki sits with what might actually be the world's largest cheeseburger. She's alone, but seems to be in relatively good spirits, especially considering what she says next. ]

Got knocked out in the quarterfinals by Mister Harvey. [ Look, she remembers your name. ] That means you'd better win the tourney, dude. I don't lose to losers.

Oh, and if any of you dudes were gonna get me Christmas presents, I'm gonna need warm clothes. My winter stuff from last year is, like, way too small now. [ This girl just keeps getting taller. ] And I'm gonna be traveling again after Christmas, I think. Maybe.

I kinda wanna get a house, but I'm only eleven? [ Or twelve, but the real estate agencies don't make much of a distinction between the two. ] Who around here has, like, a real house, anyway? Like, how much does it cost, or whatever?

[ She reaches for the 'Gear and picks it up, then stops, brightening. ]

Oh, yeah! I'm thinking about doing Old Man Surge's survival camp thingie. Anyone ever done that? Is it, like, super brutal? I figure a girl's gotta be able to take care of herself, if she's gonna be traveling alone sometimes. Tell me something good, dudes.

[ The feed clicks off on her grin. ]
comeatmibro: (dejected ★ most only see the girl)
[ The feed opens in the capable (if somewhat irresponsible) hands (claws?) of a cheerful-looking Axew. He bares his tusks for the camera in a grin, then turns it around to face the water off the beach of Cinnabar.

Miyuki wades thigh-deep in it a few yards away, stooped over and feeling around on the bottom with both hands. She glances at the 'Gear after a second and grins, sheepish. ]

Dropped my new badge.

[ Turning her eyes to the sky, she says: ] Been here a year today. I'm, like... eleven now.

[ She straightens, holding something shiny between her fingers. The sharp-sighted might recognize it as a bottle cap. With a frown, she tucks it into the pocket of her shorts and keeps searching. ]

I've seen a lot of dudes come and go, too. Friends and stuff, and also jerks. [ The insult doesn't have much bite to it. ] My brother.

People just up and leave, y'know? No warning or anything. I hate it. I'm... tired of it. How are you supposed to have friends or, like, even talk to people? As soon as you start — aha! [ She stops, raising her hands from the water again. This time, she's holding the Volcano Badge.

She dips it in the water once before she wades toward the shore. The camera tracks her progress with much shaking. Flopping on the sand just out of reach of the tide, she drags her bag to her and rummages inside for her badge case. ]

What was I saying? ... Oh.

[ Nestling the Volcano Badge in with the other thirteen — every badge except Viridian and Pewter (of all things) — she continues: ] A girl's just gotta depend on herself, I guess. Anyone else could just disappear or whatever.

[ She sounds a little sad and a lot resigned, though she's trying for nonchalant. The badges catch the sun as she tilts the case back and forth, studying them. ]

It gets kinda boring traveling by yourself, though.

[ Slowly, the camera's viewpoint begins to change. It rises higher, a scant inch at a time, and then becomes inexplicably wobbly. The sound of feet sloshing through water can be heard in the background, and the camera begins gradually moving further away from Miyuki. ]

Maybe after I get these two badges, I'll chill for a while. Work or something, maybe get, like, a house.

[ The camera teeters violently, then careens sideways, earning a squawking 'Xew!' from the cameramon, who — miraculously — catches the 'Gear before it hits the water. ]

Hey! Stupid! Gimme that!

[ The haphazard view of the water suddenly spins, revealing sky, then sand and surf and Miyuki's bare feet splashing into the shallows just before the feed cuts. ]
comeatmibro: (excited ★ i declare my independence)
[ Miyuki's been back in Vermilion for the better part of a day by the time she shows her face on the network. She looks cheerful as usual, as if nothing's wrong. The backdrop is a mildly noisy Pokémon Center. ]

So, next stop: Fuchsia City Gym!

I'm gonna check out the Safari Zone after I kick that old man ninja's butt. Most of the stuff there sucks, but I want a Scyther. Turns out they evolve into something pretty cool, for bugs. Who knew? [ She grins cheekily. ]

When I'm done there, I can go hit Cinnabar Gym, then just, like, hang out on Cinnabar Island, maybe. The Seafoam Islands suck. Then I'm just gonna power through Viridian and Pewter. No rush. It's not like anyone's gonna beat my record, hehehehe.

[ Wow, how many things does Miyuki have coming right now? A lot. She doesn't know the Fuchsia Safari Zone is closed, or that the Fuchsia Gym is led by Janine, or that her hopes of sweeping the Kanto circuit at a leisurely pace while still beating everyone else and her own old record have been pretty much dashed, because she's been gone for five weeks.

Feel free to crush her dreams and/or welcome her back to the wide world of Pokémon. ]
comeatmibro: (discouraged ★ critics and their stones)
[ When the feed clicks on, it's obvious Miyuki's been crying. Her eyes are red and blotchy, and still bright with tears. That aside, she looks calm, but her voice is low and unsteady. ]

Sakura-chan went home.

[ She gestures vaguely with a piece of paper in her hand. ]

She left a letter, and Kero-chan is here with me. If anyone has her other Pokémon, let me know. I wanna make sure they're taken care of.

[ There's a moment in which Miyuki wavers, like she's not quite sure what she'll do or say next. In the end, she lets out a breath. ]

Gonna do the Kanto tour. I'll take on those crazy elite teams after I wipe the floor with the regular ones.

[ Her voice starts to rise a little, steadier now, and she even tries a smile. It looks a little strained, but it's something. ]

I'll start in Celadon, since I'm here. I'll even give these poor dudes a fighting chance; I'll try to match their levels. Might be hard, though.

Say, does anyone have both sets of badges already? What's the most badges anyone has? And has anyone finished an elite tour yet?

[ When she runs out of questions, she looks less upset, at least. She ends the feed dry-eyed.

For action tags, feel free to stumble across (or seek out) Miyuki's tent at the north edge of Celadon City, behind the Department Store. She'll be sitting outside it, a morose Ursaring beside her. ]
comeatmibro: (go ★ gonna change the world)
[ Miyuki's back on a roof somewhere in Saffron City, but this time, the weather is pleasant and the sun bright. She's actually lying on her stomach, her shirt dragged up over her shoulders, sunning her back. It's a few moments of this before the cameramon speaks up. ]

Ax!

[ The girl looks lazily over her shoulder, but one glimpse of the record light on the 'Gear has her scrambling to her feet and pulling her shirt down in the back, cheeks pinking. ]

Jeez, warn a girl, Axe-bro! I wasn't decent!

[ When she recovers from her embarrassment (which does take a moment), she sits back down, facing the 'Gear this time. ]

So since that crazy freakin' typhoon hit, like... right after I got here, I didn't get a chance to say it — [ She drags her bag closer and pulls her jacket out of it, holding it open to show the eight gym badges from Johto. ]

I beat your record, Mister Old Man. [ No, she never learned Roy's name. She has no plans to. ] Seven months, two weeks and four days. How's Kanto lookin' for you?

[ The feed cuts on her cheeky grin. ]
comeatmibro: (downward ★ never quit)
[ The feed clicks on to a figure against an almost-black backdrop, a dimly lit silhouette without any sun to light her features. She opens her mouth, right before the sky opens up and boom, boom, booms, like a series of naval cannons. Lightning flashes in the background, illuminating Miyuki and her annoyed expression for a good couple of seconds. She's wet, and her face is bruised, an ugly line down the center of her lower lip.

In the precious moments of brightness, the darkness behind her is also thrown into sharp relief: it's the hulking side of a Torterra, which seems to be moderate shelter from the wind, the occasional shift notwithstanding.

Miyuki speaks loudly to be heard over the rush of rain and the bluster of wind in the microphone of the 'Gear, which still manages to obliterate her words now and then. ]

This really sucks! Kanto wasn't this crappy in the games! If I could Fly in this without getting struck by stupid lightning, I'd just go back to Johto! At least I didn't get all my stuff stolen there!

[ There's another flash of lightning, this one much closer, and she ducks, the 'Gear going up over her head. The Torterra's form is even more brightly lit than last time, the electricity crackling around his shell before it dies out. Miyuki looks a little shaken when she brings the focus back to her face. ]

I'm really glad that worked! [ She gestures over her shoulder. ] I'm on the roof next to the train station! Tank-bro makes a pretty good lightning rod!

Sakura-chan! I hope you're inside somewhere and not an idiot!

[ She seems to be about to say something else, but another solid crack of thunder cuts her off. She shouts something that's mostly drowned out by the wind, but sounds like (if you're listening closely) 'we'll talk later.'

Click. ]

[ Feel free to come find her if you're in Saffron and you're capable. Otherwise, she'll be answering replies to this post on a slight delay. ]
comeatmibro: (serve ★ i'll shoot the shot (bang))
[ The feed comes on in the middle of the action: a Charizard swoops down into a waiting Hitmonlee, knocking it to the ground and circling back around to his own side of the battlefield. In the background, a song is playing.

From the camera's vantage point in the bleachers, it's hard to hear the tiny girl trainer's orders over the music. Chuck's voice carries better, but not much. The song continues through the Hitmonlee's defeat, as well as the Hitmonchan who follows. They can't get much purchase against the barrage of Flying-type attacks the Charizard is handing out, and their own attacks don't do much damage.

When Chuck sends out his Poliwrath, Miyuki hesitates. The cameramon speaks up at the top of her lungs. ]

Ax! Axew! Axew!

[ Miyuki looks up at the camera, which zooms in on her sudden wide-eyed expression. For a second, she looks like she might actually run out of the gym altogether — but then she clenches her fist and turns back to the battlefield to recall her Charizard.

A Jolteon takes his place, and the following battle is over in short order. It's clear that the Poliwrath was a severe mismatch for its opponent in both type and level.

As the music fades away, Miyuki cheers. ]

Yeah! Take that, dude! Badge number six, get!

Wahaha! Not so fast, little girl! You don't have your badge yet!

[ Crossing the gym to meet him in the middle, Miyuki sticks out her hand for a handshake. Chuck laughs again and obliges, handing over her badge afterward. ]

It was a good battle! Here, take this HM, too.

Heh, thanks, mister! Now I can fly to Mahogany and kick some other old guy's butt.

Buh— old guy?! Hey, listen here—

Whoops! Gotta run!

[ Miyuki takes off, waving at her Axew in the bleachers. The camera shuts off in the ensuing scramble.

Storm Badge is mod-approved! ♥ ]
comeatmibro: (excited ★ i declare my independence)
[ Check out that gorgeous blue water, Johto. It's the ocean off the coast of Olivine, not that you can tell, since the shot is being taken straight down from the shoulders of a Dragonite. The telltale orange scales give it away.

Behind the camera, Miyuki whoops. ]

This is awesome! Haku-bro's huge!

[ She turns the 'Gear on herself: she's grinning, beaming, and the next second, the view shifts wildly, spinning sky and water and orange dragon hide. ]

Hold this, Haku-bro.

[ Haku-bro, ostensibly the Dragonite, takes the camera, leaving the viewers with some more unnaturally-cerulean water — which turns white and splatters the lens when, a moment later, something splashes in.

Miyuki breaks the surface, laughing and treading water. She's still in all her clothes. ]

Draaag...

It's not that cold, dude!

[ An orange tail ripples through the water, close enough for Miyuki to grab on, which she does. She hangs there as she addresses the network. ]

Haku-bro evolved! He's freakin' huge now! And we're in Olivine! The beach is super awesome!

Oh! And I beat Jasmine! I'd show you guys my new badge, but it's in my bag— hey!

[ Something offscreen has her attention now. Haku-bro turns himself and the camera that way, revealing a Kingler on the shore dragging a backpack into the water, right past a Slowpoke that's lazing in the shallows. ]

Bro, get that stupid crab!

...

...

... Poke?

Augh!

[ Surrendering the Dragonite's tail, Miyuki starts to swim to shore. The transmission doesn't last long after that — with a resounding rush, the 'Gear is overtaken by water, and the feed cuts.

Passersby are welcome to get drenched by the Aqua Tail that Dragonite just popped off, and interfere with the Kingler interloper however they'd like! Miyuki will resurface shortly after the water settles, but any network responses are going to be a few hours later, when she's gotten her 'Gear dried out and working again. ]
comeatmibro: (Default)
[ Miyuki turns on the feed looking exasperated. ]

Soloed Ecruteak Gym. [ She flashes the Fog Badge, but she doesn't look as triumphant as she ought to. ] Guess we're on our way outta here, since Sakura-chan's a scaredy-wuss

[ This last scathing insult is directed offscreen somewhere, though there's no audible response. With a roll of her eyes, Miyuki looks back at the 'Gear. ]

Olivine next. Steel-types should be, like, cake. Then Cianwood, and then we'll fly to Mahogany. Man, I can't wait 'til we can fly.

—Hey, what do you guys know about new evolutions? Like, some of the original hundred and fifty have evos and pre-evos and junk that I've never seen before. Are there a lot of 'em?
comeatmibro: (unsure ★ if my fear defines my world)
[ Miyuki looks annoyed today. ]

So I got my egg on Valentine's Day, right? And since then, I got two other eggs. [ The camera pans over to a somewhat petite Tauros and a snoozing Slowpoke. ] They hatched already. They both took like a week. But my Valentine's Day egg....

[ She turns the camera to an egg, sitting bundled in a towel. As she continues, it's beginning to shake. ]

... still hasn't hatched. Like, not even a crack! What's up with that? Is it a dud? Am I supposed to eat it or something?

[ A sudden jerk from the egg interrupts her. ]Whoa!

[ What's this? Why, it's ~*the miracle of life*~. A few small cracks are appearing in the surface above and below the band, and the egg is shaking violently now. ]

Come on, dude... you can do it!

[ One particularly violent twitch sends it toppling over, and it's engulfed in that bright white light that spares us from the less-miraculous portion of the event. ]

Yesss!

[ When the light clears, a wobbly baby Axew makes its way to its feet. ]

Xeeew!

[ Miyuki drops the 'Gear on the couch, leaving an awkwardly angled shot of the Pokémon, and of herself when she comes into view to scoop it up. ]

Cool! Oh, man, you're gonna be so awesome when you grow up!

[ There's a few minutes of this exultant praise before she seems to remember the 'Gear was ever on, and comes to pick it up. The ding and the tinny voice of the Pokédex feature sounds, and then Miyuki whoops. ]

Sweet! Holy crap, you're, like, shiny! [ She turns the camera on herself, grinning. ] Totally just hatched a shiny Axew. Beat that, Johto!

[ OOC; Miyuki and Sakura are staying in the Tennishaus in Goldenrod, as per Yagyuu's invitation. They've only been there since yesterday, so housemates are free to come investigate (if they haven't realized she's there yet) or pester her — she's just in the living room. Yes, her Tauros is grazing on the carpet. ]
comeatmibro: (dejected ★ most only see the girl)
[ Miyuki turns on the 'Gear, sitting on the edge of a bed in an inn room. (Wait, so you're saying she's paying for an inn room? Yes, yes, she is. Something's clearly wrong here, and not just because she's not freezing her ass off in a tent: her eyes and nose are red. She's clearly been crying.)

When she clears her throat and speaks, her voice is soft, but steady, and strangely sober for Miyuki. ]

My brother— Chitose Senri went home, in case anyone's looking for him. He left me his Persian — [ She turns the camera down to the cat's head in her lap. ] — and a note. I guess he wrote it a while ago.

[ It's a long moment before she turns the camera back on herself and smiles, however weakly. ]

He said when I come home, we'll celebrate me being a Pokémon League champion. I'll hold him to it, y'know. A girl's gotta get some recognition. ... So I'm gonna keep going to collect all the badges, so when I come home, he'll be proud—

[ Her voice cracks suddenly, and she drops the 'Gear into her lap. There's a too-close view of the Persian lifting her head, mewling concern, but just a few seconds later, Miyuki picks it up again. Her eyes are wet. ]

I got the Hive Badge already. Three down, five to go. Then it's on to Kanto. [ She clears her throat again and swallows. ] Me and Sakura-chan are headed up north, leaving tomorrow morning.

I've got some last-minute stuff to do before we hit the road again.

[ The feed ends somewhat abruptly. ]
comeatmibro: (excited ★ i declare my independence)
[ Miyuki clicks the feed on herself, considerably more cheerful than the last time the network saw her. She's sitting on a couch in the Otherhouse, shoulder-to-shoulder with Sakura, each of them clutching mugs of hot cocoa topped with liberal whipped cream. ]

This hot cocoa is, like, twenty percent better than any other hot cocoa ever. Wanna know why?

[ Sakura giggles in the background. ] It's victory cocoa!

Yep! [ The camera is jogged slightly, then Miyuki holds up a gleaming Plain badge. ] Soloed it! Godzilla-bro went as easy as he could, but that chick still cried, like... a lot. [ She looks exasperated. ]

I still think you could've been a little nicer to her, Miyuki-chan.

Hey, I said I was sorry for kicking her butt! Anyway, we'll probably go to Azalea soon, but I don't know how hard it'll be to get through that forest in this weather and whatever. Any advice?

[ ooc; badge is mod-approved, Sakura used with permission!
comeatmibro: (—who LEFT WITHOUT SAYING GOODBYE)
[ The video clicks on to a very angry-looking young girl. No, really, she's shaking with rage. Her scowl tightens before she speaks. ]

You useless, good-for-nothing, stupid, obnoxious — boy! How dare you just leave again, just— just like that, without even saying goodbye or... or....

[ There's a waver in her voice, but she sets her jaw and blinks hard. ]

But I'm onto you now! See if I ever talk to you again! I don't care if you ever come back! You're just a deadbeat loser who can't play tennis and has to have girls defend him! And you don't know how to treat a lady! I bet you'll never get a date!

And I hope you fault every ball you serve for the rest of your miserable life!

[ By the end of this last epithet, her voice cracks badly. It's not hard to spot the tremble in her chin just before she throws the 'Gear across the room. It collides loudly with a wall, the video shorting out, but the audio sticks around just long enough to broadcast her sobbing before it grows too staticky to hear.

Housemates can find her in her room, wailing inconsolably into her bed under the weight of a newly-hatched and very concerned Dratini. Tezuka's gone home, and since this is the second time he's left without saying goodbye, she's a little fed up. ... But mostly just sad.

Non-action replies will be a few hours from the time of the post, since Miyuki had to get a new 'Gear. ]
comeatmibro: (come up and try my new parts‚ bro.)
[ Here's a familiar sight, Johto: Falkner getting his ass handed to him. Miyuki's pretty gentle about it, but her Jolteon pulls through the whole fight on her own without a hitch. Falkner hands over the Zephyr badge and accompanying TM to the grinning girl only a little grudgingly.

The feed ends here, only to pick up a few minutes later to Miyuki kicking snow off her boots (then her boots off her feet) and crawling rapidly into a sleeping bag inside a tent. She zips herself up before addressing the network, just shy of teeth-chattering. ]

So, totally soloed that crap. Goldenrod, here I come! Er, well—

[ She pauses, a little sheepish, and burrows deeper into the sleeping bag with a violent shiver. ]

It's too freakin' cold to go all the way south to Azalea. Me and Sakura-chan are gonna need someone to see us through Route 36. It'd super rock if you had Pokémon we could ride, too, but we can hoof it if we have to. Even if it's like negative a billion degrees out.

[ She darts an arm out of the sleeping bag to grab a nearby scarf, which disappears into the zippered cavern with her as she descends deeper. Her voice is a little muffled now. ]

Also, I need a cuddly fire-type. Not a Growlithe; Sakura-chan already has one. And Vulpixes and Flareons are too prissy. Something awesome.

[ Whatever she says next is indistinct; she's too deep in the sleeping bag. You might assume it's a goodbye, though, because she reaches out after that to grab the 'Gear and turn it off.

Her tent is tucked back into the trees behind the Pokémon Center in Violet City. Feel free to visit, if you might be concerned. ]
comeatmibro: (i wouldn't call it 'impressive.')
[ Miyuki is chilling at a diner in Violet, stuffing her face with French fries and sharing a booth with her Larvitar and Jolteon, who are equally well-fed. She does, if barely, have the grace to swallow before addressing the network. ]

Yo! So I've been wondering, how many people here are actually journeying-age? Like ten or so? Because there's, like... a ton of old dudes here. Have you guys just been here for like twenty years, or what?

[ She shoves another fry into her mouth. ]

Anyway, training's going good. I bet I'll be able to beat Bird-bro in a couple weeks. After that, I think I'm gonna head straight to Goldenrod. This weather is really crappy, and I hear it gets cold here. Should be someplace for me to crash for free in Goldenrod, right? Chivalry can't be that dead. I'm a young lady, after all.

So how about it, bros? Who's gonna put a girl up for a while? Am I gonna have to couch-surf?
comeatmibro: (hey‚ you bunch of filthy hippies!)
[ Miyuki turns the feed on as she's flopping onto a crate outside the back entrance of the Violet City Pokémart. She's wearing what some might recognize as the apron that the Pokémart employees wear, and she takes a long drink from a bottle of water before she speaks. ]

Yo! So I'm hanging out here in this Violet place until I can wipe the floor with Bird-bro. You guys know the one.

Anyway, I need an Electric-type, but the only ones around here are those dumb-looking sheep over on Route 32. They're lame. I need something awesome. Word is some people sell Pokémon eggs around here. I've got a job now, so I can pay for one! Help me out, dudes!

[ With a grin, she turns off the feed. ]
comeatmibro: (Default)
[ A shaky feed shows off some grass, spilled trail mix and an inquisitive-looking Larvitar, who looks upward and points at the 'Gear. ]

Tar.

What?

[ The 'Gear whirls wildly before focusing on the bright face and dark eyes of a tan-skinned young girl. She grins. ]

Oh, it's on. Yo! I'm Miyuki, and this is my first day as a Pokémon trainer. I'm leaving the first town now. My starter is this little guy — [ The camera returns, with that same slightly nauseating spinning motion, to the Larvitar, who raises one claw tacitly, then turns back to the girl's face. ] — who's totally gonna be awesome when he evolves.

Anyway, I'm already sick of Rattatas, big surprise, right? I've been seeing these other dudes around, like these pink floaty guys and these ones that look like raccoons. Are they any good? I don't wanna use up my Pokéballs on lame Pokémon.

And where can I get a bike? Help a girl out!
