[ The feed clicks on to a figure against an almost-black backdrop, a dimly lit silhouette without any sun to light her features. She opens her mouth, right before the sky opens up and boom, boom, booms, like a series of naval cannons. Lightning flashes in the background, illuminating Miyuki and her annoyed expression for a good couple of seconds. She's wet, and her face is bruised, an ugly line down the center of her lower lip.
In the precious moments of brightness, the darkness behind her is also thrown into sharp relief: it's the hulking side of a Torterra, which seems to be moderate shelter from the wind, the occasional shift notwithstanding.
Miyuki speaks loudly to be heard over the rush of rain and the bluster of wind in the microphone of the 'Gear, which still manages to obliterate her words now and then. ]
This really sucks! Kanto wasn't this crappy in the games! If I could Fly in this without getting struck by stupid lightning, I'd just go back to Johto! At least I didn't get all my stuff stolen there!
[ There's another flash of lightning, this one much closer, and she ducks, the 'Gear going up over her head. The Torterra's form is even more brightly lit than last time, the electricity crackling around his shell before it dies out. Miyuki looks a little shaken when she brings the focus back to her face. ]
I'm really glad that worked! [ She gestures over her shoulder. ] I'm on the roof next to the train station! Tank-bro makes a pretty good lightning rod!
Sakura-chan! I hope you're inside somewhere and not an idiot!
[ She seems to be about to say something else, but another solid crack of thunder cuts her off. She shouts something that's mostly drowned out by the wind, but sounds like (if you're listening closely) 'we'll talk later.'
Click. ]
[ Feel free to come find her if you're in Saffron and you're capable. Otherwise, she'll be answering replies to this post on a slight delay. ]

He looks a little tense, but considering he's currently on a rescue mission...]
Glad to see you're doing okay, kiddo! Might be best to stay under cover for a while.
[He's shouting pretty loudly too, what with the torrential rain and lightning.]
It's just as bad in Johto, though, sorry to say.
[ Miyuki's holding her backpack above her head now, her 'Gear balanced precariously on the knees she has pulled to her chest. The view of her face is startlingly close, but dim as before. ]

action | oh look they're actually in the same city
She's right that anything airborne is pretty much doomed in lightning storms this bad, and a lot of his typical roster won't be much help, either, so he pulls out a few members of his B-Team from the PC and sets off through the chaos, keeping his Cubone at a mild distance to draw off any lightning that might get too close.]
Chitose-san!
action | hallelujah
Miyuki stands up as well, peering out into the rain. She yells. ]
WHAT?
[ No clue who's there, but she's kind of busy right now, jeez. ]
action |
CHITOSE-SAN!
[Is he going to have to have Yorick throw his Bonemerang at her, seriously.]
action |
Nemesis-bro! What's up, dude?!
action |
[Way to mutter the obvious while standing out in the rain sans umbrella, quickly beginning to resemble a drowned cat, Yagyuu. He's got one hand trying to shield his glasses from the rain as he looks up at her, but it's a pretty fruitless effort.]
What are you doing out here?! It's dangerous, get inside!
action |
Nero slides down from Buster's back, his coat immediately slipping off his shoulders and finding its way over Yagyuu's head, propped up by his arm and shielding them both from the rain. Let it never be said that he wasn't a fucking gentleman. Meanwhile, his gaze down on Miyuki is hard, and when he glances back at Yagyuu, distinctly impatient.]
The hell are the two of you doing up here? [Did you miss the whole bit with the lightning?]
action |
Holy crap, Metal-bro, he's even bigger in person!
[ Way too big, in Tank-bro's opinion. The Torterra stretches his neck out over Buster's shoulder and endeavours to push his head down. It ain't no good if you're taller than the lightning rod, buddy. ]
Torrrrr.
action |
I was just asking Chitose-san the same question.
[Speaking of irritation, though, there's no mistaking it in his tone.]
action |
Nero looks back up at her, then her Torterra, considering.]
There are still people down there. If you've got time to sit around in the damn rain, you've got time to help.
[Looking pointedly at Yagyuu. GOES FOR YOU TOO, MISTER.]
action |
Miyuki tears her eyes off Buster to scowl down at his trainer. ]
Chicken-bro's just running around in the rain, too. And he's, like, an adult. Tell him that.
[ Best way to avoid taking responsibility: deflect the blame! ]
action |
Meanwhile, Yagyuu's still being irritable.]
There'd be no sitting around if Chitose-san would just come in out of the rain — something we would all benefit from doing, preferably as soon as possible.
[Things Yagyuu hates: stubborn little girls, being wet, potential electrocution. Yup, they've hit the trifecta already.]
action |
Nero frowns a bit, but he can't really argue with Yagyuu's point. He looks up at Miyuki instead.]
I'm gonna head back down. You in, or out?
action | sorry, there needed to be Significant Tennis Moments
It calls to mind a certain racket thief she's put out of her head since January, and the stupid cowardice that spurred her to stand between him and Shishigaku's irreverent regular lineup. There are probably people, she thinks, cowering in the Pokémon Center and hugging their Pokémon, too afraid or too weak to go out in this storm. There are people like Tezuka, who need an example to follow, and there are probably people like her, who might — sometimes — need help.
With an agitated growl, she stands up on the slippery pitch of the stairwell roof and makes a leap for the more solid footing of the concrete the boys are standing on. It's not a graceful landing she makes, but she manages to avoid getting hurt. ]
Stay here! [ This to the Torterra, who, in his defense, didn't look like he was about to go anywhere, anyway. ]
action | there is always room for tennis.
Tank-bro is bigger by far, but Yagyuu has always trained Yorick for partnered battles, and so the only thing on his mind is helping out his teammate, even if it means nothing more than the occasional brief respite from getting struck when the lightning rains down.
Meanwhile, Yagyuu's down to business, too, but of an entirely different variety, and when Miyuki jumps down from the roof, he instinctively moves to steady her if she needs it so she doesn't slip on the landing.]
You're both going, then?
action |
He looks between them, Miyuki and Yagyuu, and wonders if he's being expected to say something, to do something to stop her. He isn't, because that's hardly practical, not when she's got so many pokemon that could help the people down in the sludge.]
I think Buster can carry us both. [Now his gaze is straight on Miyuki, challenging but earnest.] Might be a bumpy ride, though.
[Of course she's got her own flyers, but come on, Buster's a huge fucking dragon. It makes all the difference.]
action |
She looks up, a Pokéball in her hand, and narrows her eyes, first at Nero, then over at Buster. The grin that spreads across her face is wide and girlishly excited. ]
Hell yeah! Er— [ She halts, eyes darting between Yagyuu and Nero. Her brother would have chided her for that. So would Other Father. She's not sure if she's in for more of the same from these two; it's hard to imagine Nero getting on her case for something like that, but then, he does get sort of dad-like sometimes. And Yagyuu might nag at her just to get on her nerves. ]
action |
But at least Nero will probably stand a fair chance of keeping Miyuki out of trouble, even if they are both out in danger, and you know what, sometimes that's just got to be enough.
So he'll acquiesce.]
Then be careful.
[His tone pretty clearly conveys the unspoken addition of because this is a really stupid idea.]
action |
Don't worry, gramps. We'll manage somehow.
[It's hard to miss the air of reproach that clings to Yagyuu's face like a mask. Buster was fine getting up here, wasn't he? And its not like Miyuki is adding a ton of weight. Yagyuu's right in assuming Nero won't let any undue harm come to her if he can help it--but her pokemon are stronger than his in any case, she's just as equipped as, if not more than, any of them.]
action |
And hey, you might wanna get yourself an umbrella, since you're not helping out, Chicken-bro.
[ She turns toward Buster and hesitates at the sight of Nero's hand, but only for a second. She grabs hold and pulls herself up easily with his help, settling right behind him. There's a moment where she debates whether she wants to hold onto him or not, but she's smarter than she is stubborn for once. In this kind of weather, on a dragon this big? She takes fistfuls of Nero's jacket, and if he makes fun of her, one or both of them is going off this dragon, damnit. ]
action |
That's better. Don't think Buster's tail is gonna catch you if you fall.
action |
Like I want your dumb self catching me?
[ Okay, that probably counts as a complaint. ]
action |
Please secure your belongings, and keep all hands and feet inside the vehicle at all times. Buster!
[Buster turns so that his back is to the roof, his head out into the void over the street.]
[And then he dives, leaving Yagyuu alone to soak up the rain.]
action |
Flying never gets old. ]
Whoo!
video;
[ The noises of the storm are slightly muffled where Sakura is. And that big orange whatever behind her is her Arcanine. ]
I'm in the Pokemon Center. It's really crowded in here, though.
Why are you on a roof? It's dangerous outside!
video;
Glad you're not an idiot!
video;
I'm coming to get you.

[ There's a dim flash of light as she returns her Arcanine to his Pokeball. ]

[ You can't stop her now. She's already making her way to the door. ]
