[ Miyuki's been back in Vermilion for the better part of a day by the time she shows her face on the network. She looks cheerful as usual, as if nothing's wrong. The backdrop is a mildly noisy Pokémon Center. ]

So, next stop: Fuchsia City Gym!

I'm gonna check out the Safari Zone after I kick that old man ninja's butt. Most of the stuff there sucks, but I want a Scyther. Turns out they evolve into something pretty cool, for bugs. Who knew? [ She grins cheekily. ]

When I'm done there, I can go hit Cinnabar Gym, then just, like, hang out on Cinnabar Island, maybe. The Seafoam Islands suck. Then I'm just gonna power through Viridian and Pewter. No rush. It's not like anyone's gonna beat my record, hehehehe.

[ Wow, how many things does Miyuki have coming right now? A lot. She doesn't know the Fuchsia Safari Zone is closed, or that the Fuchsia Gym is led by Janine, or that her hopes of sweeping the Kanto circuit at a leisurely pace while still beating everyone else and her own old record have been pretty much dashed, because she's been gone for five weeks.

though she blinks a bit at that recognition, quickly forgetting her phobia. ]

Oh... you recognize me? [ she beams a bit at that, even if she seems a little sheepish. ] Eheh, sorry but I don't really remember things that well... but, um, I guess I'm back!

[ Miyuki's face falls just a little, but it's not the first time someone's come back and not remembered her. She remembers (too late) Makoto's aversion to bugs, though, and offers up a sheepish grin of her own. ]

Heh. It's okay. Sorry about the Scyther thing; I didn't realize it was you at first, sis.

[ makoto smiles a bit weakly as she notices the disappointment on miyuki's face... she feels a bit bad for not remembering, even if she knows it's not really her own fault. ]

N, no, it's okay... you sounded really excited about it. This Scyther thing must be really... um... [ she struggles to say something positive, before just shaking her head rapidly. ] It must be really something! [ and with that finally out, she lets out a long sigh. that was harder than she expected it to be. ]

Oh, but what's your name? I might not remember everything, but I can try my best to.

[ Her grin brightens a little bit. Even if she doesn't remember, Makoto is still the Makoto Miyuki knows. ]

Miyuki. And don't worry if you don't remember. It happens sometimes. We'll just have to be friends all over again, right?

Exactly! [ she brightens up at that, nodding energetically. that's what she'd been thinking, though it always felt a little weird saying something like that after forgetting herself. ]

So you're in... um... Fujiya, right? [ something like that anyway... ] Why are you fighting ninjas?

Fuchsia City! The gym leader used to be this old ninja guy, but I guess he retired or something. I hear there's some chick there now.

So even ninjas are Pokemon trainers... that's pretty amazing...

They must be really hard to beat.

Nah, he was easy. I bet this new chick will be, too. Probably even easier.

[ Said with the showy air of nonchalance that cocky people like to employ to make themselves seem ~*impressive*~. ]

Eh? Really? I dunno... I think you're going to end up in a lot of trouble if you underestimate her.

[ she's a ninja! a ninja!!! even makoto wouldn't want to mess with a ninja. she'd probably win, but she wouldn't want to. ]

He~h. Nah, really, she can't be any tougher than that dragon lady in Blackthorn. I've got this.

[ Well, Miyuki wouldn't want to get in a catfight with her, but with Pokémon? She's pretty sure she can take her. ]

You bet! I've got twelve badges right now. Soon it'll be sixteen, and then I can start my second tour. I'll get thirty-two badges!

S, second tour? There's more than just sixteen?

There's eight regular badges in each region, and then there's, like, 'challenge' badges, or something. The gym leaders have full teams of level 100s!

Level 100s... [ her eye glaze over a bit at that. on one hand, it sounds intimidating.

but on the other hand, it's a challenge...! ] I think it'll be a while before I'm ready for something like that.

Hehe. It takes a lot of training! I've got seven level 100s. A couple of them were left to me, but I trained most of them myself. And I've got a couple who're almost level 90, too!

I've got a long way to go. [ her highest is probably in its 30s now... ] But that's alright... Training is what's important, right? It's the time you spend working at getting stronger that really matters!

Well, yeah — and, y'know, how strong you get! No point in training if you don't get any stronger.

Right. Even if your Pokemon get really strong, it doesn't mean anything if you aren't strong enough to fight beside them.

[ hopefully she only means that figuratively, not literally... ]
